After a voyage of 55 days bom Gisborne, during which howling westerly gales and mountainous seas were experienced, the scow Alaroro reached Sydney at a late hour last night. rile crew, numbering ten, sutfered groat privations during the last fortnight. The imustcr was compelled to raHoii Ihe food, all hands receiving about one-third the usual allowance. Calm, weather prevailed till they were oil' East. Gape, tin'll a nortli-vu’steriy gale wa.s encountered. It blew with undimiiiislicd fury tor seven days. 1 lie vessel, under bare poles, was blown out of her -ourso at the rate ot 100 miles a day. When the gale abated adverse winds were ox peris'wed lor >3O days, and little progress was made. Fortunately plenty of drinking water was available. Beyond a few bruises the crew escaped injury. The Alaroro was little damaged.
