At tho wool sales a splendid selection of all classes was submitted and prices were fully maintained. There was keen competition, the Continent takino- the bulk of the merinos. New Zealand sales:—Tc.hu: top price 16(1, average 15|d. At Bradford the top:; market shows a slight advance in quotations in sympathy with London, hut no appreciable increase in business. There is. rather more inquiry for hutior. New Zealand choicest salted and unsalted 161 s, exceptionally good lots making to 1645; Australian do 156 s ami 160 s; Danish 180 s. Cheese is firm at 82s and 84s.
FEILDING STOCK SALE
(Per Press Association.) FEILDING. last night
At the Feilding stock sale to-day a good yarding of fat sheep came forward and sold on a par with, late sales. In the store pens only hoggets of medium quality eame forward. These did not meet with vendors' ideas of value. One pen of rough ewes, with fair lambs at foot, were keenly competed for and sold at 2Ss Id. Fat sheep: Hoggets 21s. 28s Cel, to 345, owes 20s Id, 225, 31s -Id to 34s 4d, wethers 28s, 33s (id to 38s 3d, shorn stags 17s Id, rough owes (100 per cent ) 2Ss Id.
Stores: Small hoggets 8s 3d to 13s Sd, empty ewes IDs Id. A good yarding of dairy stock came forward, with a fair yarding of fat, cattle and a poor yarding of store cattle. Dairy stock sold at late rates, especially springing heifers, which sold best in that line. Pat cattle sold exceptionally well, good quality cattle selling at the best prices for months. Springing heifers in lines £3, £5 Is, £3 17s Od to £7 2s (id; fat bullocks (plain and light) £ll, £ll lss to £l2 17s; Hereford heifers (extra, prime) £l2 2s (id, Hereford cows (extra prime) £l4 13s 4d; medium fat cows £7 3s.
LONDON FROZEN MEAT MARKET
Messrs. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., have received tho following cable from their London office dated September 16: — “Quotation. —N.Z. prime crossbred lamb, Canterbury, heavy, Bid; light, 9gd; North Island, heavy, 71 d; light Bicl. The demand for New Zealand lamb runs on finest qualities. N.Z. prime crossbred mutton, Canterbury, heavy, sid; light, 6§d; North Island, heavy, 5) d; light , 5Jd. Tile demand for New Zealand mutton runs on heavy weights. N.Z. prime ox beef, hinds, od; fores, 3id. Demand for N.Z. beet is moderate. Mfirkct ion New Zealand lamb is steady. Market for New Zealand mutton is dull. Market for New Zealand beef is quiet, flood average quality Australian crossbred mutton, light, 3Jd. No forward sales reported.
Messrs. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., have received the following cable from their head office, London, dated September 16:—
“Dairy Produce. —Butter: The total imports into the United Kingdom last, month were 465,000ewt., and for tho same period last year, 424,000 owl. Quotations are as follows : —Danish butter, 180 sto 184 s per cwt.; N.Z. exceptional brands, 166 s per cwt.; N.Z. finest, 162 sto 164 s per cwt.; Australian finest unsalted, 158 s to 160 s per cwt.; Australian finest salted, 158 sto 160 s per cwt.; N.Z. Stored butter, 160 s to 162 s per cwt.; There is an improved demand.
“Cheese. —N.Z. cheese, colored, 82s to 84s per cwt.; N.Z. cheese, white, 82s to Bis pev cwt.; Canadian, colored, 80s to 86s per cwt.; Canadian, white, 80s to 84s per cwt.; ditto, up to 86s per cwt; N.Z.. while, up to 88s per cwt. There is an improved demand.
