96 SEPARATE DESIGNS,
MELBOURNE, Sept. 10.
There was widespread interest in the competition for the design of a l|d Australian stamp, to commemorate the transfer of the seat of government and the opening of the Commonwealth Parliament at Canberra next year. The competition, which is to close on Tuesday next, lias already brought 96 separate designs, including 73 from residents of Australia, nine irom New Zealand, eight from England two from the United States, one from Canada, one from Scotland, one from Franco, and one from Ceylon.
