LOSS OF VALUABLE MARE

FELL FROM RAILWAY TRUCK HAMILTON, Tuesday

The thoroughbred mare, Demoua, owned by Dr. A. W. of Hamilton, and Mr. S. Otway, of Iviwitahi, bad to be destroyed a few days ago owing to injuries received iu an unusual way. The mare was being trucked from Kiwitohi to Otahuhu, but when the truck was examined en route a door was found open and the horse was gone. The animal was discovered badly injured on the railway track, a mile and a half from Kiwitahi, and had to be destroyed. Demonn, who was- 11 years old, was valued at 500 guineas. She was used for breeding purposes. She had never raced, but her progeny had done well.
