TANGIER PROBLEM
STARTLING REVIVAL LIKELY ITALY SUPPORTS SPAIN (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) LONDON, Sept. 17. Mr. Martin Donoghue, flic Daily Chronicle’s special correspondent ar Madrid, states: "The Tangier question is not dead—only ■ sleeping. It will shortly be revived in startling fashion, which will cause a tremor in all chancelleries of Europe. Signor Mussolini has just been gazetted to the Spanish Order of Naval Merit, and has definitely ranged himself on the side of the Spanish claims. "The Spanish Ambassador, on a special visit from San Sebastian, workmi out with the Dictator Pc Rivera yesterday the terms of the ItaloSpanish accord, which will powerfully affect the situation in tho Mediterranean. Though the terms are secret it. is stated that Italy for supporting Spain’s claims to Tangier, receives a quiet pro quo, which will enable Mussolini to realise his dream of securing a place in the Mediterranean sun.’’
