WATirr. last night. An incident .surrounded by mystery occurred in Mr. F. W. Stamp’s billiard saloon on Saturday evening. The games were in full swing, when, suddenly, a loud explosion from without .startled those in tbo room. • Next moment a coating of line particles of glass strewed the doth of the billiard table opposite to one of the windows.

Aib examination disclosed a small starred hole in the pane. Mr. Stamp, when the shot was tired, was standing before this pane, and the missile missed him only by inches. It sc. happened that the damaged pane wn«i tho only unfrosted one in a row of four windows. The police are investigating.
