NEW ACCOMMODATION
POWER BOARD BUILDING MODERN DESIGN. The modern buildings of CHsboyne •will he further added to within the next few mouths, tenders having been called for the erection of an office building for the Poverty Bay Power Board. This will be located on the section in I'eel street recently acquired by the ooard rrom the Townley estate. The plans of the new building have been prepared by Mr. P. H. Forge, and they provide for,a two-storey structure, in reinforced concrete, and of most convenient design. The board will occupy the lower floor, leaving the upper partita available for renting. The vestibule, opening from the street. leads into the showroom, in which electrical fittings will be displaved. and beyond which is the clerical department, and the sceretarv's office. Beyond is the boardroom, 22. feet by 17 feet, and-on the other side of the biulding will be the store-rooms for m&terial and secpnvpiodation tor the mechanical st.vit. The engineer's office and dvafnng-rooni occupy the rear'of the ground floor. - The upstairs portion ha-- been designed with a view to accommo biting - a "dentist with a modern ecpiipmeut, including fi« X-ray plant. These rooms will occupy the front of the building, and will include a waitingroom, surgery, and mechanical department, and the X-ray room with a dark - cdmmber close at hand. The rear half of the top floor will be occupied by a commodious office, with a large sample or storage-room behind it, roughly 38 feet square. The design of the structure is thoroughly in keeping with the new demand for dignity with- convenience.
