Mr. K. 5 Williams, informed a South Island members' deputation that as soon as he could get time after the session, lie wisited to go to the South Island and sue as much as lie could with the view particularly to ascertaining what was wanted by settlers. "I have every sym pal by with the scenic questions,’' added Mr. Williams, ‘'but I think you will admit it is my duty with the money given to me spend to do my best to see the set tiers get access litst. though I do not- say no money will be spent on .scenic roads." This had particular reletence to the proposal to build the 62-mile road of the I blast Pass connecting South Westland with Otago.
