HFHFOIKRKTAU BLOCK. , (Special to the Herald.) WAIROA, this day. It was stated at the County Council meeting that the “Rocky Range” property, Aloliaka district-, had been acquired from the natives, and it was likely to he put on the market as soon as.'lie present lease falls in, about- three years’ lienee. Tfic land, known as the Hoivheieiau block, situated! at Wliakaki, about 13 miles to the oast of Wairon. is likely lo be soon placed oil the market in blocks of suitable size. This land was originally intended for Maori soldier settlement. and was placed in the hands of a Commissioner, but il has now revelled to the Crown. A portion of the block has Wen sown liv the Crown in i.nleir to take advantage of an excellent barn this summer. The land appears to bo of excellent quality for pastoral purposes, and it should command considerable competition when opened' for selection. Its sell lenient will he a great boon to tl:e entire district, as il- has already too long been unproductive. /The surveyors are now at worlc on the block.
