A MUSICAL FAMILY

FIVE CHURCH ORGANISTS.

(Special to the Herald.l AUCKLAND, this day,

Music bulked large in tlic family history of Mr. Henry White, of Owen’s road, Mt. Eden, whose death is announeed. Mr. White himself was one of the first players on the pipe organ in Auckland as organist to the original Methodist Church in High street, and afterwards he officiated for years at St. Luke’s, Mount Albert.

Five members of the family followed up the parental hobby. To-day, one son, Mr. C. K. White, is organist at St. Barnabas' Church, Mt. Eden. Another, Mr. Henrv White, officiates at St. Matthew's Church, Helcnsville, and a third,-Mr. A. J. White, at Holy Trinity Church, Otahuhu. Another son, the late Mr. Arthur White, who was killed in the great war, was a church organist at. Port. Pirio, South Australia, and the eldest daughter, the late Miss Emily White, was organist at a church at Mamaku. On one recent Easter Sunday five members of the family were presiding at organs in New Zealand and Australia at the same time. , »- MR EMERSON CLARKSON. (Special to the Herald.) CHRISTCHURCH, this day. The death occurred yesterday of Mr Emerson Clarkson at the age of 78 years. He was born at Masham, England, and came to New Zealand nearly 60 years ago, and settled in Canterbury'. He was keenly interested in trotting and was one of the foundation members of the Metropolitan Club, of which he has acted as timekeeper over many years. He used to act in a, similar capacity when trotting was held at Lancaster Park. MRS ITARRY (HOOPER. (Per Press Association.) WAIROA, ibis day.
