FORESTERS’ PICNIC.

Members and friends of Court William Gladstone and Court Jellicoe held their annual combined picnic over the week-end. Nearly 300 adults and .juveniles were conveyed by ’busses to Waihircre. On arriving, cricket, roundels and swimming were indulged in. .After lunch a visit to the falls was undertaken and also to the quarry camps.

A splendid spurts programme was arranged for the afternoon for prizes donated by Messrs. Doddrell, Coleman, Duslmell, Taylor, Hooper, .Shepherd, and Hampton. The races proved interesting in view of the fact, that several noted Poverty Bay runners were competing and also representatives from the American sports meeting. The Chief Ranger of the adult Ooprt presented the prizes, assisted by the president of the juvenile Court. After the sports tea was served. A creek .jumping competition was held, great amusement being caused when several members got wet. The members on the committee, it is staled, are to be congratulated on the most successful picnic held by the Courts tor some years. The ollicials all carried nut their duties in an able manner.
