FATAL MISTAKE.
STRYCHNINE FOR ASPIRIN. (Per Press Association.) WANGANUJ, this day. At, the inquest, on William Davis, who died through taking strychnine in mistake for aspirin, disclosed that deceased and ft mate, Thomas McCuire, were suffering from the after effects of liquor, and were in a bad way. They had already dranl:. the contents of a gallon jar ol yeast and were searching for something co relieve them when they found a bottl" of strychnine in the vest pocket of the acting manager of the farm on which they were employed. The latter carried it about with him for safety, having ta\cn it over from a previous manager, who leit before Christmas. Davis died in a few minutes, and McGuire is making a comparatively good recovery, the acting-manager having liberally dosed him with salt and water until the doctor arrived.
