MAN OVERBOARD.

IN CHOPPY SEA. NOT SEEN AGAIN. SYDNEY, Dec. 16.—While assisting two of his mates to adjust one of the lifeboats on tho Mat-arum on Monday, Murdo Mclvor, an able seaman (40), a native of Stornaway, Scotland, lost bis balance and fell overboard. The steamer was immediately stopped and lifebouys thrown where "the man fell. A lifeboat was lowered and cruised about for an hour, but no trace of the missing man could be fund. The Mataram was coming from Rabaul, and was between Byron Bay and the Richmond river when the incident happened. Mclvor was wearing heavy sea boots and oilskin, and it is thought that these bor'e him under. The sea was very choppy. After a fruitless search the Mataram continued her voyage to Sydney.
