OOBHAM’S LATEST FLIGHT. LONDON, Nov. 17.—Like a blue and silver hawk, Captain. Alan, Oobham’s biplane started to-day on its 20,0C0 miles ilight, to Capetown. Captain Cobham is accompanied by a mechaniac, Elliott, and a cinematographer, Emmott. Despite the wintry conditions, the party wore lounge suits and overcoats, thus illustrating the comforts of modern air travel. Captain Cobham had a mishap in the first hundred miles. He landed at Lympne (Kent) owing to oil trouble. Oobhftm hopes to cover the 8000 mites within a wook. The pilot will be accompanied by Elliott, the mechanic who participated in t-lie Indian flight, and 1 a cinematographer. Between Khartoum and Bulawayo he will follow the jungle route which tho Air Ministry mapped out for a projected flight irt 1919. the landing grounds on which have been re-cleared. .OUTWITTING NATIVES. Special precautions will bo taken to prevent tho native carriers who will transport the petrol repeating their behavior in 1919, when they mistook the petrol for water, poured it. out at tho starling- point, and carried tho empty .tins, which they filled with water on arrival at the landing-ground. Captain Cobham is taking a speei-ally-erpvippfdl medicine-chest, with remedies for snake-bite and 1 insect pests. He intends carrying out an aerial investigation of the tsetse fly menace above ibc Tanganyika district.
