\ HOPE WELL CAPE (N. 8.), Sept. 3. The trial of Lawrence Doherty, accused 6*. disclosed to-dav that the FlVteen -year-old daughter of the murdered man, Howard Cairns, bold a lamp while her father was beaten to dentil. The two men were quarrelling over tba possession of a bottle of winsay, when the girl’s maternal grandmother told them to fight outside. The gin. obeying her father’ orders, held a .amp to enable the combatants to see.
