A. AND P. COMMITTEE.
ATTENDANCE OF MEMBERS. NEW RULE ADOPTED. The non-attendance of some of the committee members of the A. and P. Association at the periodical meetings has been the cause of vexatious delays in the commencement of business, and for this reason it was recently proposed to reinsert an old rule which automatically removed from Ike committee any member who did not attend three consecutive meetings. At the committee meeting to-day, Ihe epics(ion was again discussed ami it was decided that members who missed three meetings would automatically be removed from the committee. This resolution will, of course, have to be ratified by a general meeting at a later date. The motion, of which notice had previously been given, was as follows: “That any member of the general committee absenting himself from three consecutive meetings of the committee without, leave of absence, shall he deemed to have vacated his seat, but may be. re-elected at the discretion of the general committee. Any member of the committee who shall have failed to attend tit least half the ordinary meetings during Ihe year shall be ineligible for election for the ensuihg year." Air. A. .T. Cameron thought the rule was drastic and unnecessary. The life of the Association depended on the goodwill of the people, and he saw no reason for the rule. Air. A. 0. Turnbull agreed with this view.
Air. Slierratt moved that the latter part of the motion lie struck out. As long as a member applied for leave of absence lie would not bo struck off flic committee. It was no use leaving the committee with power to reinstate members who did not attend or no one would ever be struck oil’. Messrs 11. E. Dodd and 11. 11. Wood supported the amendment. Mr. .1. Eivers said that he thought committee members who did not attend should be dealt with drastically. Air. Cameron said that a. good man might be thrown out of the committee, and would not like to go forward a second time and be elected.
The amendment, to the effect that, any member .absent from three consecutive meetings without leave of absence should be deemed to have vacated his sent, was carried by 11 votes to 4. ........
