A fire in the Gippsland Co-operative Bacon Curing Co.’s works at Dandenong did damage estimated at £20,000.

A twelve-roomed residence, owned by S. B. Hunter, in Pembroke road, was totally destroyed by lire at noon on Sunday, while the owner and family wipe visiting, a farm at Midlnirst. The building was insured for £I2OO ami the furniture for £BOO in the Commercial Union Office. The loss greatly exceeds the insurances.
Early on Saturday morning, a fourroomed house on the Strathallan road, near Waipaoa, owned by AlivWhite, and occupied bv Messrs White and Gordon, was burnt to the ground. The five had a good hold before being discovered, and the occupants were unable to save any of their belongings. 1 It is believed that the'Njutbreak was due to a defect in the iron chimney. The house was insured for £3OO with the Atlas Company, while All* White’s personal effects .were covered by a policy of £IOO with the South British Company. Mr Cordon’s belongings were insured for £BO with the Liverpool, London and Globe Co.
