CAR PLUNGES OVER BANK.

MAX KILLED AND THREE OTHERS INJURED. (Per Press Association.! WELLINGTON, this day. About two o’tdock this morning a motor-car plunged over a bank on Salamanca road, near Kelburn tramway bridge, and ys a result a young man named Maclntyre,; believed ,tt> he a. resident of Hutt, was killed. Jack King, of Webb.street, was injured internally. Airs King was injured on the back, and, a man named Helper suffered a broken nose.

All the injured are suffering from shock. Residents of Salamanca road were aroused by Mrs King, and on hurrying down the road found the car capsized, with two men inside. Four rescuers lifted the err, and extricated .Maclntyre, who was dead, and King, who was unconscious. A doctor, police, and ambulance were called. The rescuers meantime were unable to do more than shield the injured from the rain. A helper stated that the car was moving slowly, as there was no light at the corner. ' He did not know how the accident happened. The party had spent, the evening at a, house at Kelburn.

HOW THE ACCIDENT HAPPENED

(Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day

In connection with the Salamanca iroad motor fatality, the deooased, Thomas Campbell ' Mclntyre, Mas single, aged 29 years. He was an architect's draughtsman residing at Lower Hutt. * He had been attending an evening at Kelburn, at which fourteen were present. The deceased, with, three others, left about 2 a.m. in a. three-seater ear. Tlie accident occurred after the car had travelled about 100 yards. It appears from the wheeEmarks that the car got over too far into the water-table under the tramway bridge, on the right-hand side of the narrow road, which is about, six yards wide. It then sheered off to the left! side, going over the bank 15 yards away, dropping and overturning down a 115-foot hank on to a private road below.

The other occupants are still in hospital, Afr King with fractured pelvis / The night was dark. The road, which was steep, was wet and slippery.
