CANDIDATES FOR PRESIDENCY. (Elec. Tel. Copyright— United Press, Assn.) (Reuter's Telegram.) (Received March 2, IT a,in.) BERLIN, March 1. There is a lack of suitable, candidates for the Presidency among the. political leaders. Besides. Mnr.x, the names of tho Conservative ex-Speaker, Wallraf., General Maekensen, Luther, and- the Socialist Lobe a,re mentioned. Luther has the advantage of having been acting president. ITis election would signify a Conservative victory. Marx will have the support of a section of (lie Republicans, but the fact that he is a, Roman Catholic, may prejudice his chances. Moreover Luther, Marx, and Stresemann are all held, responsible for the scandal in connection with the compensation, paid to the Ruhr magnates after the French occupation. Much depends oil whether each party will nominate its own candidates, or whet her different part ies will agree 1o a common candidate. The reactionary parties may do so, but agreement, among the Republican parties is unlikely. (Reuter’s Telegram.) (Received March 2 3 p.m.) BERLIN, March 1.
