INFANTILE PARALYSIS.
(Per Press Associai ion.; STRATFORD, this day. There are two cases of infantile paralysis in hospital, a girl of six years and a bov of ten. ‘ NEW PLYMOUTH, last night. Three new cases of infantile paralysis were reported in Taranaki to-day. The eases came from Kapuni, Opunake and Waverlev. M Alt TON, Fob. 2.7. The four eases of infantile paralysis. three in one house a l Mart on, reported in the Dominion list, are incorrect. They were merely suspected, lmt the place is now absolutely free. There have been no eases yet in Marton. OAMARU, last night. A suspected ease of infantile paralysis, reported to-day, that, of a boy of eight years, was definitely diagnosed. Tlie~symptonis developed rapidly, and the child died to-night. SECOND LOCAL CASE. DEFINITELY DIAGNOSED. A second case df infantile paralysis has been reported in Gisborne, a child two years of age, residing in the being affected. The child was admitted to the Cook Hospital last Saturday, and since then has been under observation. The symptoms were of a rather unusual nature in'that the child seemed quite happy and none of its limibs were affected with paralysis. It was unable to walk, however, and the case has now been notified as being infantile paralysis. On inquiry being made to the hospital 10-'day, Dr. Ross stated that the-taj’e was one of genuine infantile paralysis. The family and all contacts have been isolated from the time the case was first reported, and all other necessary precautions taken.
