(Per Press Association.! HAW ERA, this day. The visiting Australian athletes appeared at an electric light, carnival here last night. The track was damp with the dew and slightly heavy. Both sprinters were handicapped out of the hundred, which was won in 10.2, but Grehan ran a great race to win the furlong, wherein lie was conceding 22 yards, by four feet. The time was 23.2. From scratch in the mile Hyde ran a magnificently judged race, catching and passing the leaders at the entrance to the straight, hut Bailey (140 yards) then challenged the Australian, and a lighting finish saw the local man win by a foot. Time 4.30 2-5. Burness fell in tho half-mile cyee race and did not start in tho mile. He could not get up in the tvfo miles. The Aus-’ tralians romped home from the West Coast- Centro in the medley relay. Notable local performers were: Mile walk by veteran H. E. Kerr, who caught the field in the .second lap, and so was practically unpaced, finishing in 5.14, and the high jump of sft 7in by G. Franks, who only just failed to reach sft Bm.
