Six boa constrictors loose in a. ship which docked at New York from Colombia gave the crew some thrills before they were recaptured. The snakes were carried in crates, which were broken during a storm in the Caribbean Sea. Sailors plunged into the hold Just in time to see the last of the boas slipping through a hole. The men searched high and low for four days, officers and men fearing even to sleep till tile reptiles were caught. Then four were found and safely rehoused, but i_he other two could not be found. Some days later a sailor unrolled an awning for the shelter deck. Out- popped the head of a boa. It was caught, and another awning was found to be the hiding-place of the last one.
