HAWKE CUP MATCH. (Per Press Association.) NELSON, last night, Wet weather delayed the resumption of the Hawke Cup match until 3.40, when after, a ‘little over an hour’s play the game was stopped bv rain. Nelson iri their Second innings have lost one wicket for 60—Neale 23, Saxton 18 (not out), Fletcher 10 (not out). Extras 9. INDUSTRIAL COMPETITION. The Industrial Cricket Competition was continued during the week-end. when the Nivenco team journeyed out to play Miniwai on the Muriwai Domain. The weather conditions were very unfavorable, and interfered greatly with the day’s play. Muriwai batting first compiled 76, a. feature of the innings being the splendid exhibition of hatting by the veteran G. Coop, who compiled 28. The committee of the Poverty Bay Cricket Association met last night, there being present: Messrs. H. E Maude (chairman), V. C. R. Mitford. C. Baker. L, Balfour, E. Fox, E. Hogg, W. Carter, arid F. dimming. Mr. A. C. Cooke was elected to fill a vacancy on the committee. Mr. A. Cnssin waited on the meeting and prospects for the proposed Shop Day were fully discussed and liberal promises of support were received. With reference to the proposed visit of a Wellington team, Mr. McGirr advised that the touring eleven would play at Gisborne at Easter time, cither one or two matches.—Particulars regarding transport and accommodation Were left to the chairman arid secretary to supply. The Auckland Association wrote regarding a visit of an Auckland touring team in 1926-27.—1 t was decided to receive the letter meantime and enter into preliminary negotiations. The convening of a special meeting to discuss the merits of the present district scheme as against the old club scheme was mentioned by the chairman, but after discussion it was decided to defer consideration of the proposal until next meeting. It was resolved to suspend the junior competition this week on account of the infantile paralysis regulations.
With regard to forfeitures it was decided that any team desiring to forfeit n match in any competition must notify the opposing team in writing arid also the secretary of the Association not later than 9 a.m. on the. day set down for fho match.
The Poverty Bay Club requested a match with an Association team on' Thursday week and this was agreed to, it being decided to notify the selectors to submit a team from the available players at the next mooting. The position of the teams was reported to be as follows: Senior—City A 18. High School 17, North Gisborne A 11, North Gisborne B 6, Kaiti 6. Citv B 0. The draw for Saturday is as follows: City A v. High School, No. 4; Kaiti v. City B, No. 1; North Gisborne A v. North Gisborne B, No. 3.
The draw for the Thursday competition matches this week is as follows: — Civil Service v. Cosmopolitan, No. 2; High School v. Foresters, No. 3.
