An election for members of the biennial conference of the- Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants has just been completed through. New Zealand, end ballot papers are being counted, at Lie Societyoffice, Wellington. The pnipuri irmal representation system is being followed, mid it is expected that, tin* results will not be complete fur a week, as there are over sixty candidates. Great,' interest has been taken in the t lections, following so closely after the •railway strike. The Dominion, for the purpose of the election, is divided into four -constituencies, each electing livedelegates to the conference. No fewer than 33 candidates are- contesting the ten North Island seats, and 26 are divided between the two South Island constituencies which return delegates. The Society’s conference opens in Wellington in Hu* first week of .February and will be followed in March by the national election of president on the (system of proportional representation, the ballotclosing mi March 14. Mr. Connelly, the present bolder of the office, will seek reappointment, and another candidate already announced is a. former president, Mr. R. Hampton, late of Addington, now stationed at Petone railway workshops.
