NOTES FLUNG ON; ROAD
An all-night search in Melbourne by Detective Madin i'or an alleged thief ended at, the Spencer street railway stalitm. His quarry, finding there was no escape, exclaimed, "The game's up; there is the money," and dramatically tossed a bundle on the roadway. Thi& was found' to contain £282 in notes. Later Mayne Jollife, a stable boy, was charged with stealing £490 as a servant of Henrv Charles Stent, a horse trainer, of Flem'ington. Mr. Stent had placed £490 in notes under the mattress of a bed in his front room. During the day he discharged Jollife, and 1 subsequently discovered' thai the money had disap.peared.
