MENACE IN AUSTRALIA

NERD TO TEACH PATRIOTISM. Referring to the flag ceremony the Itev. (.'. T. Forscutt said that every Monday every child in a school should stand to attention and say, "1 honor my <"|od. I serve mv King, and I salute my flag." ' •

"Bolshevism has cast its shadow over Australia," he said. "' and Communism is taught, 'every Sunday. Out of the homes of Bolsheviks conic children who mix with our hoys and gills."

Mr Bnmtnell, in reply, said that he was quite in accord with the requests. Ho add'ed, however, that tho teacbor.s could not singlv take the oath of aljegianco, as the whole public service would ho affected. "We must impress upon our teachers the grave responsibility and the privilege they have in teaching tho coming generation and turning out men and women of fine character," lie declared. "1 am satistied." he addled,- "that the. teaching .service in this State is magnificent. Our system is the, best in Australia; in fact, I think the best in the world."
