Wilson’s Portland Cement Company announces that it has been decitled to close the Warkworth plant for (he manufacture of cement, owing to the demand for cement having dropped. This decision affects 60 employees, some of whom will be found 1 employment at Portland.
Thomas E. Calvert, a middle-aged man, arrested on Monday on a charge of drunkenness, and remanded for medical treatment, died in Mount Eden gaol to-day of heart failure. WAIPUKUIUU, this day.
