STATE GRANTS AVAILABLE,

Negotiations for the raising of the loan'of £153,000, which was sanctioned this week, are now being made by the Cook County Council, but it is likely that,softie short time will elapse before any definite proposals are submitted to the Council. ■

j Tt-is intended, however, that the work \ mapped out for this season shall he prosecuted immediately, and for this purpose some of the grants made by the Highways Board and the Public Works Department will be made available to the Council as soon as required. Under these circumstances the work on the Coast road will proceed uninterruptedly, irrespective of the arrangements in connection with the loan. It is anticipated that £2O,CCO or £30,000 will lie 'Variable right away..
