NEW IRISH CRISIS.

DISCUSSION IN DATE 111 BE ANN

ULSTER’S SACRED RIGHTS,

(Elec. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.!

(Received' August 2, 3 p.m.) LONDON, August 1

Mr. Fitzgerald, in (lie Bail Firearm, read a statement made by Mr. Thomas in (ho House of Commons on the Irish question.

Mr. Johnson, Labor leader, denonced the British politicians' treachery. He declared that as the treaty had not, been fulfilled they should remake the Free State constitution at the earliest moment. Mr. OLHiggin's warned members against letting their feelings outrun their judgement. The treaty had not broken down.

Mr. Cosgrove and Lord Londonderry separately meet Mr. Thomas to-morrow, and later probably will confer with Mr. MacDonald.

The Daily Express states that Belfast and L ister are alarmed at the latest turn in tlie situation. Sir Jas. Craig in 1921 declared 1 that the Boundary Commission could not materialise, and it had taken the British Parliament three years to find the correctness of this view. Ulster is indignant at the proposal to amend the treaty, which was not permitted when Parliament passed the Ratifying Act. Ulster is relying on the Lords and Commoners to fight against any tampering with the territory. Failing everything else, she is willing to spend her last men 'and last shilling in preserving what she regards as her sacred rights.
