INFANT’S SUDDEN DEATH.
An infant Maori child, aged 2 years 8 months, died suddenly from natural cdugtps early on. Sunday morning at Km O,a station, about 10 miles from Ormond. The child, whose name was Barney Brown, woke up about 5.30 a.in., very cold. The mother was nursing the infant when it expired. The death was the subject of an mqv.esl held at Ormond hotel yesterday afternoon, conducted before Mr. J. <*• Appleton, J.P.. and a jury comprising Messrs F. Grady (foreman), McKay, Hinton and Ferry! Evidence was given by Dr. R. M. Gunn (who held a postmortem examination) that, in his opinion, death was due to heart failure, caused by congenital disease ol the heart. The jurv returned a verdict in accordance with the medical evidence. Ihe police were represented by Constable Leckie, of Te Karnkn.
