THE MORATORIUM.

QUESTION CF EXPIRATION,

(Per Press Association.)

CTIRISTCTIURCH, last night.

The question of the expiration of the moratorium was discussed by the provincial conference of the North Canterbury Farmers' Union to-night. It was decided to request the Government to set up a tribunal to consider cases of hardship should the moratorium expire on December 31 next, the proposed date for its expiry.

OPOTIKI, this day. The date fixed for the expiration of the moratorium is considered unfortunate by the Chamber of Commerce, because it is too early in the season for primary industries, and financial and legal institutions will be closed for their annual holidays. The Chamber decided to urge the Premier to arrange an extension of the moratorium to March 31.
