- SOCCER. WATERSIDE (1) DRAW WITH HOTSPUR (1). The Waterside team was very fortunate yesterday in drawing with the newly-formed Hotspur team. In the game which ensued, the play was confined chiefly to midfreld. The Hotspur team is * comprised of quite a number of soccer converts, and consequently their initial game was slightly troublesome, but on the result vie team would greatly benefit with a few more practice matches. The goal credited to the Waterside team was accidentally sent by a Hotspur player into his own goal. At half-time the position was: Waterside 1, Hotspur 0. In the second half, the Hotspur team was re-arranged, and it proved a good experiment. The Waterside team were kept continuously in I heir own territory. After a quarter of an hour's play, Morgan, the Waterside custodian, attempted a- long clearance. flint the ball was returned by Good, and the goalie, being out of position, was powerless to prevent a .goal. From now on great attempts were made by WaterBide to score the winning goal, but the Hotspur defence proved too solid. McFlynn, McKay, Foster, and Black played' well for Waterside, but, Spill marred his display by a tendency to hold on too longi to the ball, a. habit which must, be dropped. The Hotspur team showed very fair form for the first outing. FORESTERS A (2) BEAT FORESTERS B (1). ' ( The game played by the above teams was very even.
