UNION COMPANY'S "BABY"
BOUGHT FOR THE SOLOMONS
The cargo steamer Kara, the smallest craft of the U.S.S. Co.'s fleet, is now undergoing an extensive overhaul at Port Chalmers preparatory to making a deep sea. voyage. This vessel has been purchased by a. Melbourne firm whose intention is to employ her in the Solomon Island trade. Several officers have arrived to join (he ship, and a captain will be appointed by the new owners within the next few days. The Karu will be towed to Sydney by the freighter Waikouaiti.
