GISBORNE WOMEN’S CLUB.

Tile animal meeting'of the Gisborne W omen’s Club was held last evening, and despite /the stormy night there was a large attendance of both ladies and, gentlemen. Mrs. J. R. Kirk presided, flip dub-rooms were tastefully decorated for the occasion by Mes,dames T. A. Crawford and TV Corson. The annual report was ably presented by Mrs. H. E. Hill, and. disclosed a satisfactory credit balance. Club members now total 161. The election of officers resulted as follows: —President, Mrs. T. A. Crawford; vice-pfesjdanfsj Mesdtirnes E. N. Sidebottom, XV. A. Smith, and Woodward; i hon. treasurer, Mrs.' H. E. Bill; committee (new members to replace retiring members), Mesdames W. Samson, 'J'. Pearson, it. Hepburn, T. Todd, and L. S. Williams (together with -Miss Rosie and Mrs. Nl Hooper elected hist year). "An"'enjoyable musical programme was arranged bv Mrs,, Mil-field, arid compris-•-'€4 ' the following items: Sohg, Miss ;' pianoforte solo, Miss Jean Samson ; recitation, Miss Enid Hooper; duet, Mr. and Mrs. T. Watson; recitation, Rev. A. E. Hunt.

■Xlppjii .her election as,,president, Mrs. Crawford assumed the'chair, and took the opportunity to present Mrs. Kirk, the "retiring president, with :a handsome handbag, on the eye of her departure for Euglaitu. A warm tribute w,is paid to the valuable assistance she had rendered tire club. .. On behalf of the gardening circle, Mrs. Hepburn also presented Mrs. Kirk with a .beautiful bouquet of roses. The recipient feelingly replied.
