INTERESTING CRICKET MATCH
P.B. CLUB DEFEAT'S- WAIROA COUNTY CLUB.
A very pleasant time was spent by the members of the Poverty Bay Club who went down to Wairoa hist Sunday to play members of the Wairoa County Club. The match took place on Monday, both sides playing 12 men. The local men batted first, and' were all out for 232. Their best, scorers were : A. C. Cook (not out) 90, G. -M. Reynolds 28, G. Coop 27, H. Forster 23, and J. Bullard 1 20. Wairoa made a total of 204 runs; their best batsmen were Signal and Boyes, the former making 54 runs. Poverty Bay were thus the winners by the narrow margin of 28 runs. The most successful of the local bowlers were Clay (six for 71), Cook (two for 63), and Forster (three for 45). The local men made the return trip yesterday, and were fortunate in getting back without much difficulty. One and all agreed that the annual fixture had been a great success and that the Wairca Club had entertained them most hospitably. 1 ■
