PIRACY IN CHINA.

NEW REGULATIONS CAUSE DIFFERENCES.

(Reuter’s Telegram.) PEKIN, March 10.

At a meeting, of the China Coast Officers and Marine Engineers’ Guilds at Hongkong, it was resolved to publish correspondence with the local government on the new piracy regulations, also to submit, flic whole matter to tho Home Government. Some favored giving the shipowners a- day’s notice to strike, but the majority preferred peaceful negotiations.

The crux of tho difference arises from tho fact that the regulations insist on officers resisting pirates to the uttermost, while no provision is made for the dependents of thosei killed.
