(Per Press Association.) WANGANUI, last night. The Wanganui Caledonian Society hold its 41st 'annual sports to-day in glorious weather. There was a good attendance and tho Highland atmosphere was very pronounced, competitors in-the piping and dancing events being unusually numerous. The principal results were: N.Z. The Gisborne Amateur Athletic Chili's championships wore continued on the Reserve on Saturday afternoon, when some keenly contested events were witnessed. Towards the closo of the afternoon heavy iain set in, and made conditions for competitors and spectators most unpleasant. George Davidson, the Auckland crack, showed up in good form, and easily outdistanced Paltridge, the Oisborne man. The relay race proved to be the best event of the day, tho final sprint between G. McDonald (Gisborne) and G. Davidson (Auckland) being a very fine performance, and ending in, a dead heat. The arrangements at the grounds wero all that could be desired, and the events were run off without hitch or delay. Further results arc as follows: P.B. broad jump championship: .1. Harvey (20ft. .".in.) 1, P. Truman (18ft. llin.) 2. 220yds. P.B. championship: G. Davidson' (Auckland) 1, O. Paltridge (Gisborne) 2. Time, 23sec. Both got away well, and for a short distance ran even, but Davidson drew away, and, running easily, outdistanced Paltridge, winning easily with about 12yds. to spare. P.B. hop, step, and jump championship (4 entries): J. Harvey (41ft. Sin.) I, li. A. Malone (41ft, 6in.) 2. 4-!ovds. P.B. championship (2 startlers i: (J. McDonald if H. Martin ± Time, 55 2-ssec. McDonald led from the start, and running gracefully, kept a good lead, winning easily by about 15yds. Oae mile P.B. cycle championship: E. Morris .1, J. Douglas 2. H. Tattley .'!. Tinie, Smin, 9sec. The field got away well, and kept together for the first two laps. Douglas pulled to the lead for a short time, Tattley following close upon him. Ha if-way round the third lap Morris put in a 'great spurt, and took the lead, maintaining it till the lost and winning easily from Douglas by 6yds. Ttulley came third, being a wheel behind Douglas.
