HARBOR BOARD.

\ MONTHLY MEETING. The-adjourned monthly.meeting of. the Gisbo'rpe Harbor Board was held to-day. Present: Messrs. G. Smith (chairman), J. Tombleson, A. H. Wallis, R. D. Dymock, W. G. Sherratt, T. Quirk, L. H. Williams, T. Corson, I. Mirfield, R. M. Birrell, G. Witters, T. Todd, Holdsworth, and Dr. J. C. Collins. Leave of absence was granted to Mr. T. llolden. Prior to commencing the ordinary business of the meeting, the chairman referred to the death of Mr. C. J. Parker, an ex-member of the Board. A vote of sympathy with the relatives of the late Mr. Parker was passed, members standing- . Messrs. Ohrisp and Chrisp, the Board s solicitors, forwarded completion documents in regard to a piece of land at Kaiti, owned by the Board, the lease of which is being* surrendered by the Gjsbome Sheepfarmers' F.M. and M. Co. The chairman reported that compensation had been mutually agreed upon at £3so.—Received. The district engineer of the Railway Department wrote, stating that it was proposed to lay a cast iron sewer from the engine she'd to Customhouse street, and asked for the consent of the Board to the location of the drain as far as the crossing of the Waikanae creek was concerned. The Board's engineer reported that there was no objection to the proposal.—ln answer to Mr. Sherratt, the engineer, Mr. Campbell, stated that it did not (interfere with the projected works.—Approval to the request was granted. . The reports of the engineer, Mr. R. Campbell, and the acting-ftarboritiasfer, Captain R. Cordy, which have already been .published, were presented to the meeting. The reports were received. In answer to a question as to who would pay. for the damage done to the dredge John Townley as a result of the s.s. Inga colliding with her, the chairman said that he supposed the Board would have to pay for it.
