BENZINE LOAD ABLAZE.
FIFTY OASES IN FLAMES.
Mr Havell, a motor-lorry owner at Palmerston North, had an unpleasant experience on Saturday on the main road about a mile south of Shannon. He had a load of benzine) ou the lorry. On reaching a cutting near Shannon, which is noted for the height of its banks, the benzine tank of the lprry was replenished. The driver went to start, again and while cranking the engine, the lorry burst into flames. fj Before lone? the vehicle .and its cargo of 50 cases of benzine was enveloped in a roaring fire. At the benzine tins exploded the contents ran over the road, blazing furiously. Traffic Was completely blocked until after midnight. The whole oufit was completely destroyed. -. '
