SHIPPING.

ARRIVALS. Wednesday, July 11. , Mako, s.s. (5.20 a.m.), 505 tons, Jones, from Napier. Kaimanawa, s.s. (7.30 a.m.), 2380 tons, from Lyttelton. DEPARTURES. Wednesday, July 11. Mako, s.s. (7.55 a.m.), 605 tons, Jones, for Coast Bays and Auckland.

The Arahura sailed I'rom Auckland' at 2.30 p.m. yesterday for Tokoinaru Bay and Gisborne. She was being tendered hero at 4.30 p.m. to-day, with one launch only for inward and outward passengers, sailing later for Napier. Koturuing to Gisborne on Friday the ship is to be tendered at 5.30 a.m. (meantime) for inward passengers, and at 5 p.m. for outward travellers. On Friday night the steamer goes back to Napier. The Arahura, Iwund from Auckland, passed Tei Araroa at 9 o'clock this morning. She was expected at Tokoinaru Bay about 12.30 p.m., and left at 1.15 p.m. for Gisborne.

The Kaiapoi was continuing the discharge of her Gisborne coal cargo to-day, but she cannot be dispatched before to-morrow for Napier to continue ■unloading. From the Hawke's Bay port she is to go to Wellington. The Kaimanawa arrived from Lyttelton with a quantity of Southern produce to discharge here. The vessel is expected to leave this evening for Auckland to complete unloading. It is anticipated that the s.s. Wanaka will leave Auckland this afternoon for Gisborne with cargo. She is expected here early on Friday morning, and when she has finished at this port is to proceed to Wellington and the South Island.

At Westport the Rakanoa is loading coal for Napier, Gisborne and Wellington.

Tho produce steamer Kini is expected to be dispatched from Napier to-night tur Gisborne to continue discharge. Upon completion hero the freighter is to steam for Bluff to load produce again at tho usual southern ports for Napier and Gisborne.

The Mako arrived from Napier this morning and sailed later for tho Coast and Auckland.

The Awahou arrives here to-morrow morning, and:''sails at'<4 p.m.-for Coast Bays and Auckland.

j Tho Ripple is due from Napier on Friday. She leaves here the same night fur "Napier and Wellington. The Koutunui is duo here on Monday iiext and loads for Coast Bays to To Araroa.

The Tiroa, from Gisborne, was at Hicks Bay this morning. She should reach Auckland to-morrow night, and leave again on Saturday for the Coast and Gisborne.

The Shaw, Savil! and Albion Company advise that the Arawa arrived at Port Chalmers yesterday, and proceed.*? to Tiinaru, Gisborne, Wangamii, and Wellington. She is duo at Wellington on July 22nd., and is to sail finally on July 27th for Southampton and London, via. Monte Video and Tenerifi'e.

News has been received in Sydney, stating that the well-known clipper ship Mount Stewart has been fixed to load at Liverpool for Sydney and Newcastle. Tho Mount'Stewart was at Sydney ftbou>t two years ago, when she loaded full cargo of wheat for the United Kingdom, and after discharging her cargo was towed to Milford Haven on ]\tarch 17th of last year, where she has been lying ever since waiting for a charter, which has recently been secured.

Mountainous seas accompanying the disturbance held up the Federal liner Durham for 24 hours on the run from Brisbane. Officers' of the. steamer state that the gale, which struck the steamer on lho Tuesday, was at its height off Port Stephens, and the Durham was hove-to until the conditions moderated. ' f The JJ.M.S. Niagara was another vessel to suffer detention by the Rale. The Niagara, was duo from Vancouver at 7 a.m. on the Wednesday, but it was 3.35 p.m. before 1 she readied Sydney. Captain Rolls states that 160 miles off the coast the gale raged with terrific fury. A high cross sea and thick rain accompanied the storm. For the comfort;-of the passengers the captain decided to put the ship's head to the wind, and on the Tuesday night the big liner rode put the storm in fine style. At 3 a.m. pn the Wednesday, when the wind showed signs of moderating, the Niagara was kept away on her course, but she carried a. rough sea right up to the Heads. Pollard, McCreadv, Lloyd, Tunnicliffe', Gallon, Bannor (2), Fisher, Jull, Stack, Potaka, Barker. Bull (4), Tyrell, Williams, Wyatt, Keiha, Gibson, Dodgshun, Clark, Bullard, Kelly. Clay, Wells, Chamberlain, Smith, O'Meara, Gover. Riggs, Dr. Gunn, and 14 steerage.

Temperature readings at 9 a.m: Capo Maria 56 degrees, Auckland 55, Tauranga 39, East Capo 50, GisborW 46, Napier 44, Capo Paliser 49, Wellington and New Plymouth 46. STATE OF THE SEA. 11 was smooth to-day at Cape Maria and Napier, rough at Tiritiri and East Cape; there was a moderate swell at Gisborne and a l-ough swell at Cape Campbell, and it was moderate elsewhere. WEATHER FORECAST. The indications are for easterly winds. Weather probably cold and changeable with scattered showers. The night will probably be very cold. Barometer, unsteady ; sea, rough swell; tides, good.
