AN APPRECIATION.
(To tho Editor of the Herald.) Sir, —Allow mo through the columns of your valuable paper to place on record the appreciation and thank* of tho, Wairarapa hockey representatives for tho right royal time that has been extended to us here. During our unduly prolonged stay in Gisborne your townspeople have gone out of their way to make our visit a particularly happy one. -To Air Ogilvie (president) and members of the Poverty Bay Hockey Association, to Mr Collin (president) and members of-tho Cosmopolitan'Club, to .Miss .Cordon and-the Gisborne Girls' Club,''.to.-Mr Jones, Mr Hall, Mr Haapu, and. many others who in various ways slrived ■'to ' mako us feel at homo; to Mr McLaughlin, and the people of To Karaka, 'for their hospitality during our Hying visit to their township, to the chairman and of, the Hockey Association and . their friends, who undertook to billet our players, and lastly to the sporting.,Gisborne public, who-at floth matches showed such unstinted appreciation of our efforts on tho held of play. The. players who opposed us and the referees who controlled the, games, wo thank for tho spirit of the contests. In* leaving to-day wo take with us memories of a. .very happy stay in your town, and assure you that, should your reps, continue to hold tho.Nordon Cup, Wairarapa will again mako a trip for it next-year, with, let us hope, a stronger an'dvinoio ■ successful team.
