At the Conference of Country Racing Clubs, the annual report recommended IJxmg the headquarters in Wellington and the appointment of a permanent secretary. It stated tliat titty extra par* mus were required for racing, and a Bill providing lor an increase hau been dratted. The report condemned the practice of holding meetings outside of club's own districts., and pointed out that this destroyed the argument so .frequently used that each district was entitled to have iy own meeting tit it.s own doors. ■ The report was adopted, and furlier hostile comment was made on the practice mentioned. A resolution was pass ed protesting against the aetiou oi the Racing Coutercuco in imposing penalties and conditions on persons who had been granted permission to enter racecourses curing a meeting.
Mr. W T . Jewell, of Foxton, was elected president.
