HIDE AND SHEEPSKIN SALE
Messrs. Murray, Roberta and Cb. report on their fortnightly sale at Wellington, on the 4th inst., as follows: Wo offered 2800 sheepskins and 420 hides and calfskins, to a fair attendance of buyers. . . Sheepskins wore firm, coarse and medium lots advancing fully 3d per lb. on last sale ; fine woolled skins showed a hardening tendency. Tho hide mai'ket was easier and most lots met a dragging sale about ijd decline. Calfskins were fully Id easier.
Prices current at the sale were: Sheepskins: Half-bred Hid to 14id, line crossbred to lljjd, medium/ coarse crossbred 9d to lljd, short to half wools 3Jd to 10J,d, lambs. to 12d, dead and damaged crossbred 5d to 9fd, inferior and badly damaged 2|d to 3d, pelts 2id to B£d, damp, "salted and green 4s to 7s Id, pelts, salted 4s, lambs, salted Is lOd to 5s sd.
Hides: Ox, heavy 9d to 12^d; ox, medium 6d to 10£d ; ox, light sjd to 8^:1; cut, slippy and inferior 2d to cow, heavy sgd to 9d, cow, medium 5d to 82d, light to -6gd; cut, slippy and inferior 2d to 6£d; bull, stag >Jd to s£d; yearlings 5d to 8d ; calf, superior ; medium/good lid to damaged to 9Jjd. Tallow: In casks 20s 6d to 28s; in tins, etc., 10s to 27s 6d.
