STORM-TOSSED SCHOONER.
THREE DAYS' HURRICANE
VANCOUVEVR. April 23.—The hurricane which hit the Union Steam Ship Company's steamer Makura, while on her way to Vancouver, also damaged the four-masted schooner Vigilant. Captain Matt Pensley, who was in charge of the Vigilant, is tho hero of l\ B. Kyne's famous sea stories, which include Kappy Ricks, and is well known in Sydney Harbor. He declares that, for three days and two nights, the gale was the worst he has ever experienced. He lost the fore-topmast and foresail of his ship. Captain Peasley was himself injured by a gasoline explosion during the gale.
