TE HAPARA SCHOOL.

The monthly meeting of the Te, Hapara School Committee was held last- evening. Present: Messrs G. K. Paslev (chairman), L. P. Clark, A. Hepburn, ,T. P. Williams, .1. (-. Hardy, .1, W. Duck worth and'R.. Fredericks.

Before proceeding with the business of the. meeting the chairman welcomed (lie new members of i tie. committee. Mi 1 . ( 'lark alsoi voiced! a, welcome.

The headmaster, Mr. Fa ram, reported that, the roll uli the end of last week was 526, whilei tho average attendance was 490, in' 93 per cent, of the roll number. Anzae Day was .suitably observed by the scholars of the school, who subscribed ten - two wreaths, which were placc-d 1 on the Haiti memorial by the girls and boys of Standard! 6. The. dtiv before Anzae Day the headmaster addressed the whole school on the sacredness of the occasion: The wreaths wore made by Miss Cook, from flowers brought by tho scholars. A further sum of 11s had-been subscribed' b.v the scholars for the stationery account. The term holiday commences on the 11th, and the school will resume on the 21 st inst.—The report was adopted 1 .

A letter was received from the Education Board! regarding overcrowding ir t hr-' schools. —-In acknowledging tlv letter it- was decided' to mdeav''- t.i impress upon Hie Board the. i.c-.-. of securing addition a! accommodation at the earliest possible moment.

It was decided! to (bank Hie Education Board for a grant of £3l 2s to pay far material for the bicycle shed, and that, the Board he asked for a plan of the proposed!, structure. On tho motion of the chairman, it was resolved to inform the Board that the, committee regrets that they have no funds to pay half-cost of tool shed. Messrs .1. C. Hardy and 1 J. P. Williams were appointed 1 the visiting committee for the ensuing month. Accounts amounting to £5 7s 9d' were passed for payment.
