I’IR ED AMP EXPLOSION. Thirty-three Jive's were lost us the result of a terrific firedamp explosion which occurred in No. -1 mine of the Canadian Collieries, Ltd., at Cumberland, British Columbia, on February 8. CROSS-CHANNEL FLIGHT AT NIGHT PROVES SUCCESS. PARIS, Feb. 10. —An airplane flying through the darkness from Weber field at Croydon, England, made a success ful landing at Lebourget late last night. The plane followed a course marked out by special light signals and the aviator, reported ids progress by wireless. tele- - phone. i . " , ’ . When he arrived at Beauvais, 54 miles front Paris, where a fog forced the last experimental night flier to land, ihe aviator sighted the light on the Lebourget flying field whereupon he dropped a great flare. This was the signal for the illumination of the field, and the subsequent landing was perfect; It is expected that a regular night passenger service will be started soon between Croydon and Lebourget.
