GERMAN SHIPBUILDING.
OUTPUT GREATER THAN BEFORE THE WAR. LONDON, .Tan. 12.—From the figures for the shipbuilding output in 1922 now available, it appears Germany has beaten all her previous records. Her output in 1922 was 625.0C0 tons, as compared with 509,C00 tons in 1921, 440,000 tons m 1914, and 465,000 tons in 1913. The German shipbuilding industry has .not suffered from tho general depression, anrf, owing (o the low cost pf production and the light taxation in Germany, has become a most formidable competitor to tho British and United .States industries. Indeed ships for British owners are now being built in German yards because of tho lower cost Tho British output was 1.009,C00 tons. Tho United States has now fallen below Germany in tonnago production.
