The weather was line und the .wicket good for the continuation of the match between Victoria and the M.C.G.I Victoria closed their innings at .Saturday's total. Bowling for the Englishmen, Gibson took one wicket for 151; Calthorpe, one for 00; Freeman, none for 121; Brand, one Tor 108; Chapman, one for 36; Wilson, one for 41; and Millwood, none for 53. The Englishmen settled down to make a draw, the first ten runs taking half an h our, Hilhvood, at one stage, was half an hour without scoring, and took .100 minutes to reach double figures, Wilson scored 52. after an hour’s neat display. Frequent changes were tried, the captain, Ryder, being at his wits’ end. Hill wood scored 50 in three hours. Neither batsman gave a chance, and gave a remarkable exhibition of stone-walling. The stonewalling continued after tea. Liddicut became exasperated and bowled under-arm grubbers. Wilson reached the century in 197 minutes. Hilhvood gave a change when 94 to Ryder at first slip off Carlton, and reached the century in four hours five minutes. Although stonewalling, both men made some crisp, square cuts and cover drives. Wilson gave no chance, and his score included fourteen 4k. Hilhvood made sixteen 4’s. The innings occupied two hundred and eighty minutes. It was a drawn game. WELLINGTON ASSOCIATION. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, last night. At a meeting of the Wellington Cricket Association to-night the chairman, Air. C. G. Wilson, reported on applications for matches from New. Plymouth, Hawke’s Bay, Napier, Wanganui, Hastings, and Manawatu. Air. F. Tucker, the selector, had asked for names, and had difficulty in getting enough for New Plymouth. He suggested writing to the others, saying it was impossible to get the teams agreed. Wanganui had cancelled arrangements to play Wellington on Easter Friday and Saturday. The bat given by Mr. Caldo.w, of Christchurch, for the most meritorious performance in the Caiiterbury-Wel-lington Plunket Shield match, was awarded by Air. G. Shacklock to W. S. Brice.
Air. W. G. Hughes reported on the southern tour and expressod appreciation of the hospitality of the southern associations. The cost was £241, which was regarded as very satisfactory. Southland dosired ,to be included in the tour every year.
