COLLEY AND CO. SHIELD COMPETITION.
The annual competition for the Colley and Co. double-sculling shield will bo held at Tolaga Bay on Easter Monday, according to advice received by the Gisborne Bowing Club recently. The shield is at present held by the Uawa Rowing Club, into whose hands tho arrangements for this year's competition have been given. The Poverty Bay and Gisborne clubs now have crews training for the doublescull races. The Gisborne club's crews aro as follows: — ,Scnior: J. Pcllow and S. Lette. Junior: W. Hankey and A. C. Arthur. Lightweight: G. C. Jones and C. McCoy. Youths: G. R. Stone and F. H. Jones. POVERTY BAY CLUB. The weekly meeting of the above club was held last evening. Present: -Messrs J. O'Neill (chairman), I). G. Mcnzies, T. Hill, C. Clark, R. Hudson, W. Michic, and D. G. Walker (hon. sec.) As a mark of respect to the memory of tho late Mr. Mark Burt, tho com,mittee adjourned for ton minutes. Crows were selected for tho double scull races, commencing on Wednesday, the 14th, at 5 p.m.' Handicaps will be declared on Wednesday morning. The ’races are for the Broad Cup and Mr. W. V. Piessc’s medals. Tho crows are:. —D. Mcnzies and R. Patty; L. Winter and E. Corbett; C. Clark and O. Hansen; E. Fitzmauricc and T. Sheen; W. Glover and G. Twigley; L. Willeox and H. Twigley; F. Stichbury and J. Bacon; D. G. Walker and W. Michic; C. Ryan and C. Penny; T. Hill and L. Illingworth; J. Scott and M. Whnitiri; W. Burns and L. Litchfield; T. Rangi and A. Haurnki. The following was the draw for the racc^i: —Wednesday night: D. G. Walker v. C. Ryan; D. Mcnzies v. T. Rangi; J. Scott v. L. Winter; E. Fitzmauricc v. T. Hill. Thursday, night: F. Stichbury v. L. Willeox; W. Glover v. B. Stichbury; W. Barnes v. C. Clark. The next’rowing event will bo single sculling races for the Clare Cup, and Mr. Clarkson's medal, and entries will close on March 17. Mr. K. S. McLeod was appointed judge, and Mr. A. McConnell starter, for the double scull races. Tho committee passed a vote of thanks to the club’s representatives for their victories during the recent Shield rowing, and also to the selectors for selecting and coaching tho representatives.
