TAURANGA BY-ELECTION.
FIXED FOR MARCH 28. (Per Press Association.) „ WELLINGTON, this day. The writ for the Tauranga by-election was issued to-day. The election will be held on 28th March. The nominations close on the 19th.

A meeting of tho Liberal-Labor supporters last night, passed a resolution expressing satisfaction that Sir Joseph Ward had offered 1 himself as a candidate, and pledging themselves to help to secure his return.
AUCKLAND, this day,
Mr. C. E. McMillan, Reform candidate for the Tauranga seat, opened his campaign at Manawaru. Mr. F. W. Howard, the chairman, stated that the late Sir William Herries had expressed a wish that Mr. MacMillan should come forward to take his place in Parliament. The candidate said that he supported tho present Government as the most able party to carry on the business of the country. Control of daily produce was Imperative. The Meat Control Board had saved primary producers £575,000 per annum. • In reply to a question ho said ho did not approve of an agricultural bank. A motion of thanks and confidence was carried unanimously.
